SolaCom Helps Rebuild Iraqi Airport Communications

Liberty-STAR system provides voice communications

GATINEAU, QC - SEPTEMBER 27, 2007 - SolaCom Technologies, a communications solution company that enables interoperability over any network infrastructure, is pleased to announce its market-leading Liberty-STAR voice communication system is operational in the Baghdad International Airport. The management of the 47-position system was handed over to the Iraqi Airport Authority on August 30th, 2007.

Completion of the project signaled a new beginning for Iraqi aviation as a major portion of its airspace was transferred back from the U.S. Air Force and into civilian control. This marked the first time since 1993 that Iraq had complete civilian radar control of its airspace.

The rebuilding of the airport was managed by Raytheon Technical Services. SolaCom’s Liberty-STAR was chosen because of its cost effective and easily adaptable platform; a perfect companion for Raytheon’s AutoTrac3 Air Traffic Automation System. The Liberty-STAR’s ease of installation and advanced diagnostics simplified installation of the system, and make it easier for the Iraqis to support the system and maintain 24/7 service.
